Some men are just born to be country singers.  I thas nothing to do with chart positions, signed deals or marketing plans.  It has everything to do with a rowdy Friday night crowd singing along to a song you just wrote because they’ve immediate embraced the words.

Just ask Rhett Akins.  Akins moved to Nashville in 1992 and landed a songwriting deal with Sony Tree Publishing.  Like many other Music Row newcomers, he began writing songs and singing demos.  Those demos caught the attention of an executive at Decca Records where he was signed in 1994.  From there, he became one of country music’s hottest acts, known for such hits as “That Ain’t My Truck,” “She Said Yes” and the #1 “Don’t Get Me Started.”

When Decca closed its doors, Akins released one project on Audium Records before deciding to get back to the basics – the road, the music and the fans.

Most recently, Rhett Akins has co-written a number of songs with friends Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip including “All Over Me” by Josh Turner, “Doin’ My Thing” by Luke Bryan, “Put A Girl In It” by Brooks & Dunn, and “Kiss My Country Ass” by Blake Shelton.  He also co-wrote Colt Ford’s “Chicken & Biscuits.”
