After 12 years with Confederate Railroad, Cody McCarver has stepped out on his on. Since establishing himself as an independent artist, Cody has garnered three #1 videos on CMT Pure with “Red Flag,” “White Trash with Money,” and “I’m America” featuring Charlie Daniels, 4 Top 20 singles and was named Music Row’s Independent Artist of the Year 3 consecutive years.
Cody McCarver was getting ready for a big family get together to celebrate his birthday when he got the call that his father had been arrested and charged with murder. The shocking news is included in a centerpiece to McCarver’s forthcoming eponymous album on E-1 (formerly Koch Entertainment), “Through God’s Eyes.” (Cody McCarver is set for release on September 15.) “I’d never seen my dad take a drink or smoke a cigarette. He has always been a fine, upstanding man,” says McCarver. “We were absolutely stunned when we were told that at a nearby gas station parking lot, he had shot a man who had been having an affair with my mother.”
In the midst of crisis, McCarver, who has been part of the smash country band Confederate Railroad since 1999, decided to try to create something positive. “I was riding with my daughter when we saw a homeless man and she asked me about him,” McCarver recalls. “I told her we all look the same through God’s eyes.”
